I pre-ordered this book and simply can't believe how bad this book is.The "authors" know nothing about Mercedes-Benz.Bare bone informations and the usual stock photos, nothing original at all. And worse, what little it has are full of errors.I am convinced they cut, copy and paste this book together off the web. How else can one explains why several different identifications system were used in describing the same car.The popular 300E is listed under E class in some years, and under a strange 300 series in others.380SL and 380SE are listed as 380 Series !!! And 560SL and 560SEL ?? You guessed it, seperately listed under a 560 series.Many photos were also labeled with the wrong car, a SEC was labeld as a 300E Coupe.Does anyone knows of a 1985 300SC Turbodiesel or a 2002 CL500-2 ?And the list goes on and on.........
I was excited when Amazon sent a notification for this book. A previous book only covered M-B models up to 1996 so I'd been waiting for one that would include the latest models.The authors' credentials gave me high expectations regarding the accuracy and thoroughness of the content but in a single pass through it, glaring mistakes became obvious. As a previous review mentioned, there are numerous erroneous captions, factual omissions, and model data assigned to the wrong years. Considering that this book is titled as a catalog and would be read as a reference, these errors are completely unacceptable.Recently, my copy of this book got wet and I didn't even feel bad about it.
I bought this book thinking it would have information that I could use. Unfortunately, wikipedia has better info than this book. The book promises production totals for all models, but only give total Mercedes production per year until 1990, breaks it down by model in the 1990,s then goes back to no information on later models. Most of the information contained is pointless and useless. Do we need to be reminded under every year category that Mercedes is produced by Daimler Benz and is distributed by Mercedes Benz of North American. Once is enough, but 100 entries is stupid.Overall, if u know anything about Mercedes, you will learn nothing about them from this book, if you know nothing, this book will just confuse you because it mostly talks about engine size and 0-60 times, and give you no real knowledge or insight about themA huge disappointment

A concise guide to Mercedes-Benz models from 1946-2008. Probably not the ultimate guide, but certainly comprehensive enough for any Mercedes-Benz enthusiast.
FOR the "full price" of $24.99, this is still a good buy for the person who owns a Mercedes-Benz!This is a good book giving a basic description of the beginnings of Gottlieb Daimler, and Karl Benz.For the great price (soft cover), it is a very nice reference to those who like to see/read the history andevolution of the Automobile Company.Great photos of the cars from the early years. Plus many vintage Blk/Wht photos.There are many pristine vintage color photos as well. Not many details on those. Just some basic facts.(And of course, NO prices for one of "those" as we know).IN the beginning of the nice book, there were some "crazy-date" typos. For ex; on discussing the 1886Benz three-wheeler, it is written; 1986 Benz three-wheeler. Also when it came to the "1931 770 GrandMercedes", it is written as, "1831 770 Grand Mercedes".(?) This just did not seem right. =Just a typo.Maybe there are more (?), but I did not read it all in total. Yet, the newer models seem to be correct.A disappointment for those who own a 1990 MBZ. They ONLY showed a E320 coupe photo of the same, butdifferent. For ex; the 300se/sel/and 420+ were NOT pictured. They were the most popular at the time.But, they DID depict the 1980's "versions" previously.Otherwise, this is a better book for those who are "in-tune" with the mechanical aspects of the cars!Lots of good mechanical details!Otherwise, the Vintage Ads really were a very nice boost to see in this book!(Plus, if your dad, or grandfather had a MBZ, you might just find that Model here!?!)And for those who own a Mercedes-Benz, they would like to see a photo of "their Model"?Well, that might work out well for all? Otherwise, a good book to have for someone who would liketo read some history, and see some "cool cars"! +PLUS if you are a MBZ mechanic, you must buy this!!!=By the way, lots of great photos "old & NEW"!!!
