About the Author

ALLEN RUCKER was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and has an MA in Communication from Stanford University, an MA in American Culture from the University of Michigan and a BA in English from Washington University, St. Louis. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller, "The Sopranos: A Family History," as well as two books with comedian Martin Mull, "The History of White People In America" and "A Paler Shade of White." I have been slowly collecting Michele Scicolone's cookbooks. She did the recipes in this and the previous Soprano family Cookbook. This is a cookbook author well worth collecting. Her recipes all seem explosion proof (our family meaning is that a recipe that you can tinker with according to whats currently available in your own kitchen and still turns out tasting superb). LOL that is not necessarily the kind of explosion proof that a mobster would mean.Other reasons Michele's recipes work are that they don't call for too many ingredients or expensive hard to find things. They all taste great and can tolerate substitutions without loss of quality. (see explosion proof above). Tonight's dinner is that peppered pork loin with broccoli.As for the TV series, never watched it, but I might, just from the engaging bits of humour in between the recipes.Last of all this book garnered a criticism that it had too few recipes. Not as far as I'm concerned. Lots of them, plenty with full colour illustration so you can see how it should look.In between the recipes and humour are actually some very good common sense guidelines and tips for such things as navigating family holidays and momentous events like weddings, funerals and christenings all from an Italian American Catholic perspective but easily flexing to other backgrounds. You don't have to be Italian American and Catholic to appreciate the sane advice on putting together a dinner party for 12 by Carmela and Charmaine or the reasoning behind making an effort at Christmas, Easter and other family religious celebrations.The personalities may not be that engaging. I'd be repelled by most of them, but the wisdom in putting on a party, entertaining people who don't agree with each other but must get together for the sake of the family as a whole is very practical.But first and foremost, it's a great cookbook sequel to the Sopranos' Family Cookbook and that is thanks to the author of all the recipes inside, Michele Scicolone. I highly recommend her cookbooks. So far I've got of her cookbooks and they are excellent.

I ordered this for a Sopranos fanatic friend's birthday, and she loved it! She tried the recipes and they were delicious, and there is just enough mix of Sopranos snark and charm to make it a great read too (and yes, Carmella's Baked Ziti recipe is here).

Ok... I bought this book because I love the Soprano's... but I got more than I bargained for! This book is hilarious and believe it or not... there are some awesome recipes in here that even the worst cook can cook! Reading this book was like spending an evening with the Sopranos! Here you go... I liked this book so much that I am thinking of buying a few more to give out as Christmas presents! You really couldn't go wrong... not only is it funny, so it is entertaining... it has great recipes that are easy to make and taste awesome! Sounds like a gift to me! They should come out with another one... I would buy it! Get it... you won't be sorry! Totally happy with this purchase! Bada bing, bada boom!

One of my two favorite cookbooks, the other is the Soprano's Family Cookbook.

My neighbor was visiting when this cookbook arrived. She wanted to borrow it for an hour or two. It was a week before she returned it. It's a great cookbook, especially if you loved the "Soprano's". It has all their family recipes.....& my neighbor loved it so much, she ordered one for herself.

Have owned this book for years and just sent this copy to my brother. The recipes are genuine, just like my mother and grandmother made.

I have throughly enjoyed reading this book.It has all the characters in the Sopranos giving out advice on what to do at certain social gatherings and Carmela is the star because it is told from her viewpoint.It is a fun read and informative. I tried one of the recipes tonight and it was delicious.If you are a fan of The Sopranos or a lover of cookbooks it has something for you. It has a lot of articles and pictures from the show.It is worth a read.

As someone who does give a lot of parties, and I am totally at one with the style of Amy Sedaris (I like You, Entertaining under the influence) and always aspired to Carmella's style, I love this book! I like Amy's hilarious book too. They are QUITE different.I just started watching the Sopranos and having the cook book is cute and fun. I am enjoying the humerous characters giving advice. It is actually very good advice!As a cook book; it has party menu plans and recipes and they are doable and quite good. Plus, I never would have thought of putting a white serving plate on a white tablecloth with white flowers...really! I am not joking. It never would have crossed my mind! It really does make things look pretty. I think that the photos and menus are great.I like the review question # 4; I am over the age of 13, hee hee...I am 50 and I have given a lot of parties. I have party anxiety everytime! I especially liked Doctor Melfi's advice on that.

This is absolutely a wonderful book. The setup and small printing is not the greatest. However, the subject matter is awesome and so full of revelation. I never understood just how significant the Tabernacle of David is to a New Testament believer. Its importance goes way beyond the Gentiles being allowed into the Church. The Tabernacle of David is what give the Church it very foundation. It is a shadow of type of the freedom that we have to come directly before the presence of God without a partition. It is in the tabernacle of David that we learn how to worship and praise God with joy and spirit. I highly recommend this book for educational reading. I read it as a textbook for a Worship Ministry class that I am taking at the Apostolic School of Theology. A warning to Apostolic readers: The author confirms that there is only one God but He still uses Trinitarian lingo. He is obviously Trinitarian in his thinking. However, the Godhead or salvation plan is not the focus of the book, so it is still appropriate for Apostolic, Oneness Pentecostal, Jesus Name readers. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. And may the revelation of the tabernacle of David fill your worship experience with more power. God bless.

I bought this book to study worship. This book has proved a deep well for the study of worship, with an added value of opening areas of the Old Testament (especially the Psalms), which I though I understood, but in reality did not fully comprehend. It's truly a book to study, and as any good text, it will take much more than one reading to digest. I must admit I finally quit looking up and reading every scripture reference. Had I not done so, it would have taken another month to read the book. I'm completely impressed at the depth of this man's study and understanding of the subject, and this is only one of three books in a series (Tabernacle of Moses, and Temple of Solomon also).This book makes it crystal clear why King David's line was chosen for Christ's lineage.

This book has become an anchor for my studies and is a reference that I turn to frequently. It has been 'borrowed' several times, and twice never returned to me. This is the third copy I have purchased, so that should be an indication of how highly it is prized. If you had any interest in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, and the "unwritten" but visible blessing on King David as he then moved the Ark of the Covenant, ---stunningly separating The Ark from The Tabernacle itself---as he ushered in a new era and a new manifestation of worship...this book explores and explodes the fascinating themes of 'The Temple' and 'Worship' with clarity and brilliance that are God-breathed. You will be blessed!

Mr. Conner presented the facts in a smooth flowing, easily understood manner with many scriptural references that simply walk you through to our present day understanding. He tied together the old and new testaments so that they became woven into one story line--God loves us and he took his time and put intelligence of thought into our redemption. When I study the Tabernacle of David I see the heart of God and the importance of worship. I come away from the tabernacle knowing that we are "more than a notion". We, the people of God are not a by-word or an after-thought. God purposely and intentionally took His time to design us and to prepare an eternal home for us. Through Mr. Conner's presentation I know just where I am in God's economy of time and these scriptures help me to visualize and give me a new excitement about my salvation, the reality of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. With the help of the information I gained from Mr. Conner's presentation, I can now share my hope of salvation with others with concrete scriptures of proof for whatever I say. Amen and Praise God.

Some people have cynically commented that you only need to read 20% of this book, and the rest is all repetition.Those people do not actually understand the fractal nature of the 80/20 principle - how pervasive it is, or the extent to which you really need to immerse yourself in these concepts. Their opinions are worthless.I first read this book in 2003. I got to page 14 and Richard was explaining how 80/20 is closely related to chaos theory. I suddenly had an epiphany - making realizations that weren't even explicitly stated - and realized that inside every 80/20 is another 80/20, and another and another. 80/20 is fractal!Suddenly I looked out the window and saw 80/20 EVERYWHERE - in the trees, in the street, in the carpet in my house, in nearly every column of every spreadsheet in my business. Before I'd barely seen it at all, and even then only in the rear view mirror. After, I saw it everywhere all around me.At the time I was just starting to crack the code on Google AdWords, and I realized 80/20 is the key to pretty much everything in AdWords. And in marketing itself. 80/20 became my secret weapon. It was the backbone of AdWords and I included an 80/20 chapter in my very first ebook, "Definitive Guide to Google AdWords" which eventually became Entrepreneur Press's "Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords" which is the world's #1 book on internet advertising. It also inspired my book "80/20 Sales and Marketing."Richard makes a key observation, which is the difference between 80/20 ANALYSIS and 80/20 THINKING. Analysis is backward-looking. 80/20 Thinking is forward looking. When you know, in advance, that whatever you do is going to be 80/20 and nothing you do can change that, you artificially stack the deck to favor early successes. You kill your runts faster. You search for patterns that most people miss, and shortcut months or years of failure.Richard also delves into many subtleties of how 80/20 manifests in business, and how most businesses are losing money every time they sell 20% of their product line. This is a very big deal.I'm now reading this book, 13 years later, AGAIN (not sure how many times I've cracked it) and it's still producing new jewels. Yes, you can read 20% of this book and it could still potentially change your life. But if you understand 80/20, you should read that kind of book 5 times and you can be nearly certain that you'll get 10X your time investment back every single time.When Richard starts getting philosophical near the end about this applying to relationships and whatnot, don't give in to the temptation to think he's over-reaching. He's not. 80/20 is a fundamental axiom of cause and effect, one of the great secret laws of the universe.I've read a LOT of great books but this one tops the list. It's been worth many millions of dollars to me in my career.

Save 80% of your time by reading the title and nothing else. Input to output ratio is nonlinear in most circumstances. There is little value offered by reading this book if you accept the premise of the title.
