The book had every trope and cliche imaginable. I predicted everything that was going to happen long before it happened, simply because the author has absolutely no imagination and didn't put an inkling of effort into this book. There was ever a freaking Power Rangers style boss fight at the end. Just after the tournament that the main character won, of course.I speed read through this thing and I still didnt finish it quickly enough.
Enjoyed reading this in one sitting. Everything flowed nicely, start to finish. MC was likeable and believable and worked hard to adapt and thrive under trying circumstances. Supporting cast was nicely done and the magic system worked nicely. Looking forward to further adventure...
When I saw this book I was unsure.Boy am I glad I tried it. Great world building adventurous characters molded in a feudal Asian setting. The magic system in different and interesting. I for one cannot wait for the next.
Really enjoyed reading this. It follows the basic plot of a Wuxia novel, but unlike them, the main character is smart, and kind. Not the wooden, emotionless, power mad sociopaths you normally see as Wuxia protagonists.
This is a wonderful start to a new series of magical adventure. I liked that the MC has to work on himself to earn "upgrades" and not get it by doing it instantly.
I enjoyed this story a lot. Well enough written and a good read. Didn't hold me as engrossed as I would have liked but definitely will read the next book. I found the story slow to start and the magic system peculiar but things improved immensely in the later half of the book both in pace and explanations.
I really liked this book can't wait to see where the take author takes the story I will definitely read the next book
It takes either a very good book or a very bad one to get me to leave a review. This is a very good book. A nice action packed read. If you like swords, sorcery, and the quest to be stronger then I recommend this book.
