I have just started this book, after putting away my other two books by Stormie Omartian, "Power of a Praying Wife," and "Praying Through the Deeper Issues of Marriage" (now titled "The Power of Prayer to Change Your Marriage.") My circumstances are quite stuck right now in my personal life, and I felt I needed a fresh breath of hope. At this point I am just surfing through the chapters, but did concentrate on Chapter 16, "Traveling Through the Dark Moments of Relationships." There are some good suggestions here but I almost felt her treatment was a little glib when she talks about relationships that are not currently working. While it's great to "let go and let God," sometimes it's really hard. And it can take a long time to realize and accept that perhaps a person will never be restored to your life. It is a process. I would have liked a bit more acknowledgement of the pain that can cause. This book is set up similarly to the other Stormie books I've read: good summaries of the spiritual concept, with specific prayers and helpful scriptures.
Excellent. Love this book. So uplifting especially when you're going through a trial. Also makes a great gift for someone else who is facing trials and you want to do something specia for them. This was my first book and I have bought several since then. Thank you Stormie.
Well, Stormie Omartian is my favorite author so of course I am going to say that you can't go wrong w/ her books because I haven't read one yet that didn't speak to my heart and help me to examine and grow my relationship w/ both God and others. This book, especially, gives the reader inspiration to keep pushing forward while learning to depend on God for every step you take because He, ultimately, is our Heavenly Father that has our best interests at heart. God is waiting at the door of our heart for us to open up and let Him in. He has abundance waiting for us and only wants us to trust in Him and his plans for our life. It is an awesome and uplifing and empowering book and I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I have bought it as a gift twice now for others. I hope this book helps you that maybe contemplating reading/purchasing it- as much as it has me. God Bless!
This is a work book, not the actual book, so I was disappointed I had to make another purchase to get what I thought I actually ordered to begin with, in retrospect I wish they would have made that clear.
know this isn't a very helpful review but if I spent the time writing everything that is wrong with this book it would be so long nobody would read it. Go find it at a library if you're curious but don't waste your money.
Stormie Omartian did it again! This easy-read provided the support I needed in the area of doubt and my need to control everything! I'm reading it for the second time and have purchased copies as gifts.
What a remarkable experience!Ms. Ormartian started so simply that I thought at first I reading a bit of a "fluff" book. I was reading along and I noticed that the challenge to trust God each and every moment of my life was increasing.Then she got to the part about how I must relinquish my dreams to the Lord in order Him to show me His plans. She was not talking about the unrealistic dreams that children have, but the real dreams - the ones that are so "normal" that everyone takes them for granted - until they don't happen or they fall apart. She points out that God may even have the same dreams for me that I have for myself, but in order to truly live them out, I must first be able to give them up with no expectation of achieving them and trust that whatever God brings into my life will be what is best. Ms. Ormartian's candor and honesty made her a fellow struggler rather than a lofty instructor - similar to what Jesus did when he actually lived this life rather than just viewing it from heaven. God brought this book into my life at a time when I most needed it, but there is no time when it will not bless the reader's life. Highest recommendation!!
I can barely get a page read,with out feeling it is speaking to me.This book is packed with reality experience . And how to respond in a spiritual way .it has been a blessing begin word.I was hit with family disappointing time. It would have been overwhelming ,but I felt hope because of what I had read. Its a book on walking with the word and prayer and walking closer with the lord.my world seemed so dark 'with just enough light for my day.
