Loved it! Very informational. I did feel it could be improved though with more pictures and more sites and tour ideas which it doesn't show. I had an incredible time at both places. Loved it.

I've been to Cambodia with Cambodian friends so this was good support on my second trip back. Also found the Laos section very good. Having them on my Kindle really saved space.

I've used many Frommers books in the past and they have all been 100% dependable. This one was not. The Seng Hout hotel in Battambang was recommended. Be warned. Some of the rooms do not have windows and at least 4 of the hotel rooms that I visited were clean but had a lingering smell of sewage. It is imperative that you have a flashlight with you if you attempt to see Angkor Wat at sunrise. Also, having earplugs for any long distance bus or car rides is highly recommended. High volume cd's, dvd,s or horn blowing can drive a rider to distraction. The Golden Banana in Siem Reap is lovely, but most rooms are accessed by steep flights of stairs. This could be a problem for some visitors. A final note..if you have asthma or any other breathing difficulty, you might want to reconsider your trip. The pollution in many areas is pronounced.

I purchased this as a kindle version and its impossible to negotiate. Don't buy it, or any other ereader travel guide. There is no ability to search. With a normal travel guide, there are usually bits of paper stuck in it, notes taken and pages turned over for future reference, can't do this on a ereader. Also, from what I have read on this ereader version, there is zilch info on Angkor Wat and other temples, which is why you go to Siem Reap in Cambodia. I could be wrong there, but am yet to find any info on this guide...... Also, Daniel White, the author seems to have gone on a hotel and restaurant tour, with no thought for the local ambiance of Siem Reap.

I borrowed this from a local library and decided I want on for our trip. Blah blah blah blah blah.

Philippa Gregory often bases her books on people who were close to a member of the monarchy but not the "main character" historically. Two examples of this are Mary Boleyn in "The Other Boleyn Girl" and Prince Arthur in ",The Constant Princess." This novel is based on the life of Robert Dudley, the man Queen Elizabeth Tudor loved for decades. The story takes place in the very beginning of Elizabeth's long reign. Robert, her childhood friend, is a member of her court, and serves as her Master of Horse. He truly loves Elizabeth-but he desires her throne as well. Despite having a wife, he sets out to seduce the young queen; and he gradually becomes her primary advisor. His ultimate goal is for Elizabeth to grant him a divorce-so he can become king. This novel is fascinating because the reader meets Elizabeth BEFORE she becomes the revered and fascinating icon celebrated in history. Here the reader sees her as she was in the beginning of her reign: brilliant and perceptive but young, vulnerable, and blinded by love. We also meet Robert's deserted wife, Amy, a pretty, sweet and fragile woman caught between the desires of two charismatic figures. Ms Gregory beautifully brings out the intrigue, tension, and daily realities of court life-and offers a very interesting theory about a murder that stopped Lord Dudley's rise to power- but still remains unsolved nearly 500 years later. Definitely one of Ms Gregory's best.

I really enjoyed TVL. While it's not as good as some of Gregory's other novels (and certainly no more historically accurate...) it's a very interesting portrait of the early days of Elizabeth's reign and of the monumental problems faced by the country. I appreciated seeing the situation from the point of view of the common people, not just the courtiers, and it was a wonderful analysis of a woefully mismatched marriage. I like that Amy Robsart isn't a martyr without any faults: she's a childish, overly dependent, sometimes really annoying person who is willfully blind to her husband's true character and ambitions, and she and Robert Dudley are completely and utterly unsuited for each other, however much they may love one another.But...This isn't a criticism of TVL so much as all of Gregory's books: what IS Gregory's beef with Queen Elizabeth I?! Okay, so the real Queen wasn't the saint popular media (both then and now) make her out to be: she was devious, grasping, petulant, bad-tempered and she also committed some atrocities that get swept under the rug. It's good that Gregory shows her faults in this fictional portrait. But--and here's the thing--a lot of Gregory's other characters behave just as badly, and they are not judged nearly as harshly for it.Take Elizabeth's relationship with Dudley, for instance. When Elizabeth has an affair with him and becomes so dependent she feels like she can't function without him (two circumstances that I find highly unlikely, by the way), Gregory portrays her as a slutty little ditz who's being ruled by men. But when Queen Mary Tudor becomes so dependent on her husband, who cares nothing for her, that she's willing to finance his monumentally stupid war and has a complete breakdown when he leaves her--causing her to utterly neglect her royal duties while her country is sliding into chaos--then she's a martyr to love and a traumatic past who deserves all our sympathy. Similarly, when Elizabeth screws around with other women's husbands, she's a promiscuous, unscrupulous seductress who openly rejoices over other women's pain. But when, say, the White Princess screws around with someone else's husband--incidentally, her own biological UNCLE--while the wife is DYING!--then she's a blossoming young innocent caught up in the nasty machinations of others. When Elizabeth is dismissive of other women, she's a vile traitor to her gender; when Elizabeth Woodville does the same thing, she's just being her glamorous self. Even in the latest novel ***SPOILER***when Elizabeth lies through her teeth about how great the royal portrait is, she's "corrupted beyond hope"--even as the heroine, Kateryn Parr, is also lying! Even Margaret Beaufort's murder of the Princes in the Tower is somehow not as bad as Elizabeth flirting with her courtiers and taking advice from Cecil, a man who actually has her interests at heart.Gregory writes about many interesting, powerful women; none of them are saints. But, somehow, Queen Elizabeth I is the only sinner.

I'm more drawn to Gregory's stories about the Tudor family, but so have haven't tackled the red/white queen series. This one was an enjoyable read but was dismayed at the rather abrupt ending. It was a case of "what, that's IT?" as it really seemed to finish mid-conversation. Still liked it immensely, and of course the history content behind it all is very much a grey area as well so I'm not sure what else she could have done with the story. Still, even some sort of speculative epilogue or some such might have lessened the end a little for me. I guess we can't have it all!

I love Philippa Gregory -- guilty pleasure -- but this was not my favorite. Most of her books have a consistent narrative and narrator, but this one jumped quite a lot among characters, to the extent that I didn't get a good feel for any of them. The portrayal of Elizabeth was somewhat uncharitable, which is a surprise given how charitable Gregory usually is with her characters. It think it all goes back to the narration. Still, it was well-researched, enjoyable, and hard to put down.

Elizabeth the First was amazing in dodging the slings and arrows of treacherous politics in the 16 century. Trapped in a female body, shaped by the twists of fate that brought her to the throne, she was manipulative and knew how to use her minions to the best advantage. However clever she was to insulate herself from the "press" of her day, she did have a human side and that female was head over heels in love with a married man. Perhaps, that was in a perverse way the attraction- wanting the impossible- for I think Elizabeth loved the throne of England more than anything else in the world. Gregory's tale bring one more theory into the death of Dudley's wife, one of those unanswered mysteries that have left more questions than answers over the years. Humanizing the other woman- we see the triangle, the possible political fallout and the alleged conspiracy to prevent Dudley access to the throne. Do I believe in the scullduggery- yes. Could it have happened the way Gregory supposes. I could see it. Power hung in the balance, the throne a heartbeat from Elizabeth's lover- one mere woman's life becomes a footnote to the power behind the throne.

Eric Franklin has more than 20 years' experience as a dancer and choreographer. In addition to earning a BFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and a BS from the University of Zurich, he has studied and trained with some of the top movement imagery specialists around the world and used this training as a professional dancer in New York.Franklin has shared imaging techniques in his teaching since 1986. He is founder and director of the Institute for Movement Imagery Education and is a guest professor at the Universities of Bern, Vienna, Dresden Linz, and Salzburg. Most recently he has taught at the Royal Ballet School in London and at the Royal Academy of Dance in Dublin. Franklin has been on the faculty of the American Dance Festival since 1991 and teaches at universities, dance centers, and dance festivals in the United States and throughout Europe.Franklin is author of Dynamic Alignment Through Imagery and Dance Imagery for Technique and Performance. This is not a little girl's book. It is more of an anatomy book for dancers. Imagery plays a large part in Franklin's helpful exercises. There are several "aha" moments as some of his ideas hit home. He will certainly enlarge your thinking as a dancer

If you are a dancer or interested in learning about movement, this book will take you to another level of body awareness, helping you build strength and flexibility over a full range of motion. Also if you are an older dancer (beyond 40) I highly recommend adapting the many useful tips and exercises Mr. Franklin offers to help you stay injury free. It's all about longevity!

This book has been an interesting addition to my arsenal of texts on conditioning, imagery, and general anatomical knowledge while trying to keep my body safe while dancing. There are many pictures and clearly written explanations that helped me to understand exactly what muscles are being used for certain movements and how to imagine various movements so that I execute them with less tension.

Just got the book and I've learn so much from the 1 chapter alone....This is truly a dancers guide...if you're wanting to learn how to properly condition your body; training certain muscles that will enable you to have swift but smooth movements, or better spins. This book is for you. Glad I purchase this book.

The techniques and visualizations put together by Eric Franklin in this book are really effective, many times in a surprising ways. I would highly recommend this for any dancer, in any dance form. While Eric has a ballet background, my wife has been using it for Indian classical dance. It really helps build a better body image and dance more beautifully, while also being better for the body and preventing injuries.

The book is well presented, and helped fill in knowledge gaps left after rushing to get out my first EF app. On a deeper level though, I have to comment that it is frustrating to have the framework experts choose to break up the framework topics into a number of separate and out-of-phase books. e.g. here is a book covering just one class? Could there be afew more chapters covering the best practices in codefirst, etc? Is this the ORM of the Microsoft powerhouse, or of two men in a garage?

A technical book without an index! Really?!? The book is otherwise a good resource. But seriously, no index?!?

I purchased the first EF book based on EF4 and it was good but more confusing when trying to implement EF5 with DbContext. This book was helpful however it would help to have a reference in the back of the book to look up different topics. As far as I can tell it is the only book out there on EF5 and DbContext. I am currently working with EF5 on a project. After I completely implement the website using EF5 I will make a decision if I will ever use another ORM or not. I may go back to rolling my own SQL Stored Procedures, DAL, and BLL as I have done many times in the past which gives me more control and I fully understand the full data mapping. The only benefit to any ORM is time it should save to develop a project. Stored Procedures is the foundation anyway of any ORM plus it protects from injection. I have used other concepts from MS for data access and they were not bad but difficult to work with some times. I was trying to break up my project into layers and found it difficult with EF5 so I started over and put things into one project until I fully understand how to work with it better. I intend to breakup the project into layers later if I discover the need for scale-ability. Trying to implement repository pattern and unit of work is confusing since I have not tried those concepts in the past and also since EF is suppose to be doing that behind the scenes; it seems kind of redundant to implement some type of patterns if EF is already implementing a pattern. I like to use a DAL and a BLL. So EF should take the place of the DAL. I do like the concept of generating from the database plus update from the database. I am not sure any ORM will meet anyone's plug and play needs. The book is written to walk one through the concepts step by step but I tend to jump around technical books looking for instant answers to immediate problems. Mainly because I don't have the time to walk through a text book page by page I have projects to complete. I am not a full time developer so I look for quick answers to problems as I go along. I wish this book would give a fully layered example of using a DAL and BLL to also include a N-tier example with DAL and BLL. I rated this book 4 stars as it did give me some answers but it is the only book out there for EF5 using DbContext. I am using VS 2012 purposely for running EF5 and it is buggy. I spent many days with it crashing on me before I got it stable. I am in with VS 2012 for the long haul as it should get better.

This book is well written and has excellent detail. The main issue is that much of the detail of the book relies on owning or having read the previous book programming_entity_framework_2nd_edition. Together they give very good insight into DbContext and Entity Framework. I'm not sure how much can be taken away from this text without programming_entity_framework_2nd_edition so that is the only reason for not giving a 5 star rating.

Would highly recommend this as a starting point to EF. Will give you what you need to know to get started and should be a good reference through intermediate EF programming.

This is a really nice book, clear and full of details about Entity Framework and DbContext. It helps you to understand many concepts of EF's design and how to apply it in your code.For who are using DbContext, due the fact it is easy to start to use, but still not have a great understanding about how it works under the hood, I think this book can be a good start.
